This year CRIBB Cyber Security are delighted to announce the launch of a brand new solution for cruise that will offer clients the chance to increase protection, improve defences, assess their data protection readiness and help them achieve as high a level of compliance as possible.
Ultimately, through eliminating inefficiencies and improving business processes, the CMCA solution will give clients the chance to aim for a higher profit margin.
Backed by the UK Government, CRIBB Cyber Security offers end-to-end cyber resilience and is the Cyber Security arm of TheICEWay ecosystem of companies. CRIBB is fully committed to working with companies who are looking to increase their levels of security and compliance, and we have a huge range of solutions and services that can help with this.
Our experienced team can provide advice, guidance and support on the following, as well as complete year-round maintenance and support services plus training and education for companies and their staff:
Data protection | GDPR | Cyber Essentials | PCI DSS | PECR | DPO
Unfortunately, companies nowadays need to be ultra-vigilant with cyber security because cyber-attacks and data breaches are on the increase. You only need to take a look at the top 3 breaches in 2017 versus the top 3 in 2018 to see this growth:
The 3 biggest data breaches of 2017
1. Equifax; ~143 million victims | 2. Uber; up to 57 million | 3. Verizon; ~14 million
Total = ~214 million
The 3 biggest data breaches of 2018
1. Aadhaar; ~1.1 billion victims | 2. Starwood; ~500 million | 3. Exactis; ~340 million
Total = ~1.84 billion
As things stand, we here at CRIBB are 100% confident that we are far more trained and focused on Cyber Security than companies offering outsourced ‘solutions’ and in-house IT departments., with all the know-how and experience required to help. We are highly trained to properly assess risk and to keep businesses and data safe and secure.
The reason we have decided to introduce a new solution for the Cruise and Cargo industry is simple; there is a very real risk to the maritime industry that is growing rapidly.
Over the years the maritime industry has often failed to recognize the risk of cyber-attacks and as we have already seen, some of the largest companies in the world have been involved in cyber security ‘failures’. This type of outlook therefore cannot be sustained, particularly as ships are now increasingly more dependent upon the digital world with the internet connecting more and more vessels.
Unlike with onshore attacks, maritime cyber-attacks are still often left unreported which means that a sea-based cyber-attack can be more dangerous than an attack occurring onshore. Navigation systems also tend to have a lack of inbuilt encryption or authentication codes, thereby leading to an issue where potential attackers look at shipping as a ‘soft target’. Indeed, one-fifth of all respondents to last year’s Maritime Cyber Security Survey announced that they had been the victim of a cyber-attack in 2018, and three percent of those stated that the cost of an attack was anywhere from $1m to $10m.
So how exactly can we here at CRIBB Cyber Security help?
